The Education Unit at Melbourne Sexual Health Centre provides high-quality sexual health education and professional development to health professionals and public health practitioners. These courses link with and are informed by the provision of clinical services, active research and evaluation at the Centre. The Centre also has an active clinical and public health research and evaluation program as part of the University of Melbourne’s, School of Population Health.

2. Counsellor accreditation course in Pre & Post HIV & Hepatitis C testing
In accordance with the Victorian Health Act, anyone who provides HIV antibody test information and counselling, who is not a medical practitioner, is required to be an accredited counsellor.
The hepatitis C antibody test also presents specific pre and post test counselling issues.
This course is know recognised at a national level and incorporates the following Unit of Competency—Code: VBN216, Title: Provide counselling to clients before and after HIV and hepatitis C testing.
The Melbourne Sexual Health Centre offers a 6 day accreditation program designed to equip workers with the skills to give advice and counselling to those seeking an HIV or hepatitis C antibody test.
Successful completion of the course will lead to accreditation by the Department of Human Services.
The workshops are facilitated by staff and consultants from the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre and guest speakers are used to present specialist topics.
