Chlamydia is a very common sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis
Infection can occur in the cervix (neck of the womb) and the penis in men (urethra) as well as the urethra in women and the throat and anus in both men and women. It is often asymptomatic but is easily detected and treatment is simple and effective. Chlamydia infection can have serious health consequences and should be treated and followed up properly.
