This study interviewed 23 women diagnosed with pelvic inflammatory disease about their health-care experiences.

Participants reported that clinician honesty and concern were viewed positively even when doctors were unable to provide exact information. Inadequate information and treatment resulted in negative health experiences. The findings highlight the need for community education emphasizing the importance of safe sex practices and encouraging early presentation for the treatment of pelvic pain.
