You can access MSHC STI clinic for testing and treatment in two ways, depending on what you need.
-
For those who do not have STI symptoms we provide the option to make a booking. There are limited bookings for those without symptoms to test, which are non urgent.
-
If you have an STI symptom, we ask that you walk in and see a clinician as soon as possible. It's important that people with STI symptoms access treatment quickly, through our walk in triage pathway.
You have requested online selfserve booking for your STI appointments, so here it is.
We have resticted booking to two days inadvance as a test stage at this stage as staff resources is limited and cancellation is prevalent. Please ensure you let us know if you can not attend your booking.
Making a booking will only be for today or tomorrow for now, STI testing for those with no symptoms.
- 8.30am and we will try to offer you a booking for today
- 1.30pm to book for tomorrow morning
- 1.30pm on Friday to book for the following Monday morning
When you call us to make a booking, a nurse will ask you some questions about your sexual history, your sexual partners and your sexual practices. This information will help us recommend the right STI tests for you.

Other tests such as syphilis and HIV are offered based on symptoms.

Whether you're coming into the Centre as a walk in or for a booked appointment, there's four things you need to do before you see a nurse or doctor:
- Sign in for your visit
- Go to Reception
- Wait in the waiting room to be called by a Doctor or Nurse
Once you are in the clinic room, the nurse will:
- Talk to you about which STI tests we recommend
- Let you know which samples we need to collect
- Collect a blood sample, if you are being tested for HIV and syphilis
- Give you instructions on collecting your own urine sample and swabs
- Give you labelled equipment to collect your own samples
The nurse will direct you to a bathroom to collect your own urine and swab samples.
The nurse will provide instructions on how to do this. There are also instructions inside the bathroom.
Once you have collected your samples, place the samples into the specimen collection box in the corridor.
You're done!
Results are available one week after your visit.
If you provided consent, we will SMS your negative HIV result within seven days. If your HIV result is either positive or inconclusive, we will call you and ask you to come in to the clinic to talk about your result.
If your test results show that you have an infection, we will always contact you to tell you and talk to you about treatment.
We will not contact you if you don't have any infections.
You can call us one week after your visit to check on your results.
