We will prioritise your care |
For certain urgent and medically important conditions we will provide an appointment as a priority. Examples (not exhaustive list) include:
- You are pregnant and have an STI
- You have recently experienced a sexual assault
- You are under 18 with an STI
- You live with HIV and don’t have treatment
- You were referred by another health service
Call us first. A nurse will arrange an appointment or help you attend another service if needed.
We will provide or help arrange your care elsewhere |
We will provide care or help refer you elsewhere depending on the urgency of the case and availability of appointments. Examples include:
- You have STI (genital, anal or skin) symptoms
- You have been told by a partner you have been exposed to an STI
- You are living with HIV and have new symptoms
- You are a member of a priority population (see definition above) with STI symptoms
Call us first. A nurse will arrange an appointment if appropriate or help you attend another service if needed.
Your care is best provided elsewhere |
As a specialist clinic, we focus on complex cases. Other services may be more appropriate for you. Examples include:
- STI check-up and you don’t have any symptoms
- Contraception and other women’s health issues not related to STIs
- Genital and anal infections and skin conditions not caused by STIs
Options:
- Use the MSHC online booking for an STI check up
- Visit VSHN doctors or your own GP
- Call 1800 My Options for nearby services
Need help deciding?
If you are not sure which category applies to you, call MSHC and a nurse will guide you.
We prioritise people based on symptoms, people at higher risk of STIs, and those who cannot access care elsewhere.
